Due to growth in utilization and trade in herbal medicine products in Uganda, Natural Chemotherapeutics Research Institute (NCRI) and Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) established collaborations to formalize training of herbalists and herbal medicines processors. This is a means to improve their practice and formalize the sector.
Main Objective
To train herbalists and herbal medicine processors as well as develop a formerly recognized certification system for herbalists.
Specific objectives
To impart Knowledge and skill on the following modules;
- Prepare of herbal skin care products; herbal jellies, herbal lotions, herbal creams, herbal soaps, herbal oils
- Prepare herbal medicine; make herbal syrups, decoctions, tinctures, distillates, tablets, capsules, herbal powders, etc
- Treat patients; receive patients, dispense herbal medicine, perform OSHEPP
