NCRI was a beneficiary of Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) because its core activities are mainly carried out in partnership with communities thereby directly impacting on community livelihoods. PAF is a fund in the Ministry of Health accessed by programmes to utilize in implementation of activities which translate into outcomes that are categorized as those that assist people to get out of the poverty cycle. This fund is mainly composed of donor funds and it is used as a top up to funds from Government which are always not enough due to poor tax returns from the public sector. Most of NCRI’s field activities do fall in that category. These funds are not allowed to be utilized for overhead administration running costs.
